While wayfinding within public transportation premises is a daily affair for many, persons with physical or cognitive disabilities (PWDs) may face difficulties with orientation and navigation, due to their reduced mobility or cognitive challenges.
We are interested in solutions that can support trip planning and/or indoor navigation within MRT stations or bus interchanges for PWDs, targeting the needs of one or more of the following disability types:
Persons with reduced mobility
Visually-impaired persons
Hearing-impaired persons
Persons with cognitive impairments
For indoor navigation, solutions must consider GPS limitations and propose ways that would improve the indoor positioning accuracy. Your solution should improve the wayfinding experience for PWDs beyond providing text-heavy information and be relevant to the needs of the PwD identified. The improved experience could also benefit the general public and have provisions to be scaled up for other disability types in future developmental stages.
How might we offer a more inclusive wayfinding experience for persons with disabilities navigating the public transportation premises?
As part of your proposal deck, please highlight how relevant end-users have been involved in the solution design, development and / or testing processes in order to co-create the wayfinding experience that is most beneficial to them.
